| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued in 2001 as part of Ukraine's ongoing commemorative circulation series honoring the Armed Forces, this coin appeared a decade after Ukrainian independence — a period during which the country was still negotiating the terms of its military inheritance from the Soviet Union, including the protracted and politically explosive question of the Black Sea Fleet division with Russia. The bimetallic format was a deliberate choice by the National Bank to distinguish the coin from standard circulation issues without committing to a precious-metal proof release.
The Zahreba catalog reference places it within a tightly defined Ukrainian commemorative bimetallic subseries that began in the late 1990s.
