Obverse description The brass centre features the small National Emblem of Ukraine (trident) prominently displayed, flanked below by two crossed maces (bulava), traditional symbols of Hetman authority in the Cossack army, all set against a finely textured background. A decorative oak wreath frames the central device within the inner ring, with the date 2001 and the mint mark of the National Bank of Ukraine Banknote Printing and Minting Works appearing in the lower field. The copper-nickel outer ring carries the circular legend УКРАЇНА to the upper portion and the denomination 5 ГРИВЕНЬ to the lower portion.
