Issued as part of Ukraine's long-running zodiac series, this coin corresponds to Sagittarius and was released in a limited mintage through the National Bank's collector program. Ukraine's post-independence commemorative silver output accelerated sharply in the mid-2000s as the NBU expanded its numismatic revenue streams — the zodiac series was among the more commercially successful runs of that period.
The Zahreba reference places it firmly within the catalogued Ukrainian collector coinage framework established by Vasyl Zahreba, whose classification system remains the primary reference for post-1991 Ukrainian issues.
