| 背面描述 | The reverse presents two early twentieth-century architectural monuments of Simferopol set against the background of the city's historical development plan of 1768, rendered as a cartographic field. Between the two structures, the city coat of arms is prominently displayed. Below, within a laurel wreath, the inscription 225 / РОКІВ (225 Years) appears, with the city name СІМФЕРОПОЛЬ (Simferopol) arching along the lower rim in a bow-shaped arrangement. |

Simferopol was founded in 1784 on the site of the Crimean Tatar settlement of Ak Mechet, shortly after Catherine the Great's annexation of Crimea from the Ottoman-allied Khanate. The city's name — a Greco-Latin hybrid meaning roughly "city of usefulness" — was imposed as part of a broader Russification of Crimean place names following the dissolution of the Khanate. This coin was struck just five years before Russia's 2014 annexation of the peninsula would make Ukrainian commemoratives of Simferopol an historical curiosity in their own right.
