Obverse description The obverse features a stylized parchment scroll bearing passages from the medieval chronicle 'The Tale of Bygone Years,' rendered in the field as a decorative background. Superimposed at lower right is the city seal of Perejaslav-Khmelnytskyi dating from the first half of the 17th century. At the top center is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine (trident), encircled above by the semicircular Cyrillic legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine).
