Haid bei Mauthausen is a small Upper Austrian municipality, and this 5 Heller Notgeld belongs to the vast wave of Austrian local emergency currency issued after World War One, when chronic small-coin shortages forced municipalities, businesses, and institutions to print their own. The Gemeindeamt — the local parish administration — was among the thousands of issuers who stepped in to fill that gap.
The printed date of 30 April 1945 in the reference data warrants scrutiny: that would place it on the final day of Hitler's life and within days of the war's end in that region, which is almost certainly a catalog or transcription error rather than a genuine reprint date for a 1920 Heller note.
