Comments

The Banco del Paraguay was a short-lived institution — established in 1936 and dissolved in 1952 when it was replaced by the Banco Central del Paraguay. This note predates the introduction of the Guaraní as Paraguay's official currency, which only formally replaced the Peso in 1944, meaning notes like this one straddled the transition and were denominated in a unit that did not yet have full legal standing when printed.

Thomas De La Rue handled the production, as they did for much of Paraguayan paper currency through this period. The "Departamento Monetário" designation reflects the issuing subdivision within the bank rather than a separate authority.
