Reverse description The large numeral 5 dominates the upper central field, with the denomination inscription GROSZY curved beneath it in bold relief. To the left, a tied spray of stylised oak or grain leaves rises diagonally, bound at its base with a ribbon bow, serving as the principal decorative device. The word PRÓBA appears to the right of the numeral 5, identifying this piece as a trial strike. The field is otherwise plain, with no additional border ornamentation.

Additional information

In 1949, the Polish People's Republic was consolidating its post-war monetary system, and multiple compositions were tested before finalizing the aluminum coinage that would define the series. This brass trial strike was never approved for circulation — the decision ultimately favored aluminum as a cost-effective material aligned with Soviet-bloc industrial policy of the period.

Survivors exist almost exclusively in collector hands, having passed directly from mint archives rather than through any commercial channel.
