| Additional information |
Poland's 1923 coinage program was part of the newly independent state's effort to establish a functioning currency infrastructure after over a century of partition. This brass trial strike — identified by the "X" counterstamp on the rim — was produced by Mennica Państwowa as a pattern submission before the circulating iron issues were authorized. The "X" rim marking is a known feature of this specific proof-of-concept series, distinguishing mint trials from rejected or privately struck patterns.
