| 裏面の説明 | The large numeral '5' dominates the upper field in a bold, stylized Art Deco typeface, flanked on either side by decorative foliate or floral scrollwork motifs that integrate organically with the numeral. Below, the denomination GROSZY is inscribed in similarly styled lettering across the lower field. The word PRÓBA (meaning 'trial' or 'pattern' in Polish) appears incuse in small letters in the lower right quadrant of the field, identifying this piece as a pattern or trial strike. The design is framed by a reeded border. |

In September 1939, within weeks of the German invasion, Nazi occupation authorities moved quickly to establish a parallel monetary system for the newly created Generalgouvernement. Trial strikes like this one were produced to test compositions and dies before committing to full production runs — zinc was selected largely because strategic metals had been redirected entirely toward the German war economy. The "Próba" designation marks it as a pattern piece from that approval process, never intended to reach circulation.
Surviving examples are rare precisely because most trials were melted or lost in the administrative chaos of the occupation bureaucracy.
