| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by the arms of Aragon, depicted as four vertical pales (bars) on a plain field, a characteristic emblem of the Crown of Aragon. The numeral V appears to the left of the arms, denoting the denomination of 5 groats. The legend, rendered in Latin, runs partially along the border separated by pellets, reading V R PRINCIPATVS·CATALONI, identifying the issuing authority as the Principality of Catalonia.
