| Obverse description | Central device depicts the crowned eight-pointed cross of the Order of St. John, flanked by fleurs-de-lis in the field. The cross is surmounted by a decorative crown, with the overall composition rendered in low relief on a plain field. A circular legend surrounds the central device, reading F·D·RAINVND: M·H·H, referencing Grand Master Ramon Despuig with his title as Master of the Hospital of Jerusalem. The design reflects the heraldic tradition typical of Hospitaller coinage struck at Valletta. |
