The Banque Nationale de la République d'Haïti had a long institutional relationship with the American Bank Note Company, and this 1964 issue reflects that continuity — ABNC had been printing Haitian currency on and off since the early twentieth century. The "Series N" designation places it within a lettered sequence used to differentiate successive printings without redesigning the note entirely, a practical arrangement that kept production costs down.

Haiti's mid-1960s monetary situation was shaped by the early Duvalier years, when foreign currency reserves were under sustained pressure and public confidence in financial institutions was fragile at best.
