| Obverse description | Red-orange note printed on a dense guilloche underprint covering the entire field, with the bank title BANQUE DE LA RÉPUBLIQUE D'HAÏTI in bold letterpress at the top within a decorative cartouche. Thomas De La Rue printed this series through a turbulent stretch for Haiti — the early 1990s brought the September 1991 military coup against Aristide, international sanctions, and a near-total collapse of formal economic activity. Notes of this denomination circulated hard and fast in an economy running largely on black-market exchange rates that bore little relationship to official parity.
The security thread on this issue is a simple unwindowed filament, an older De La Rue specification that the series would later upgrade. Worth noting for collectors sorting varieties within P#261.
