Obverse description At left, an intaglio vignette portrays a woman harvesting coffee with a basket at her side, executed in the classical engraved style characteristic of American Bank Note Company issues. The centre presents the numeral 5 within an ornate guilloche medallion, flanked by repeated denomination numerals, beneath an arched bank title BANQUE NATIONALE DE LA REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI. CINQ GOURDES appears on a decorative panel below the central medallion, with signature lines for UN ADMINISTRATEUR and UN DIRECTEUR in the lower margin.
