| Opmerkingen |
Yakutia in 1923 was mid-revolt. The Yakut uprising against Bolshevik authority, led by figures like Mikhail Korobeinikov, had destabilized the region badly enough that Moscow's administrative reach was severely compromised. Local Soviet organs resorted to issuing their own currency partly to maintain any functional economy and partly to assert political control where central supply lines had broken down.
The "gold rouble" denomination was notional — no gold backed it. The peg to gold was a political gesture at a moment when the new chervonets reform was beginning to stabilize the Soviet monetary system elsewhere, and Yakutia was conspicuously not elsewhere.
Pick S1307 is among the rarer regional Soviet emissions of the early 1920s.
