Additional information

The Fun was introduced as part of Korea's Gabo Reform of 1894, which dismantled the old monetary system under pressure from Japan following the First Sino-Japanese War. This coin was struck at the Incheon mint, which had only recently been established with Japanese technical assistance — a detail that foreshadowed the full absorption of Korean monetary policy that would follow within a decade.
