| Beschrijving voorzijde | Printed in red on pale ground, the obverse carries a central vignette of an Oriental woman seated alongside Liberty holding a caduceus at left, executed in intaglio after designs by Dupuis and Duval. The upper portion bears an optional black overprint reading PAPEETE (TAHITI), and the text block below the central composition states the four authorizing decrees and the date of issue. The denomination CINQ FRANCS appears in bold lettering within a decorative surround, with the payability clause and dual signature lines completing the lower portion. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Printed entirely in red, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate guilloche border with interlocking Chinese key-pattern ornamentation framing the entire note. Two large dragon vignettes fill the upper and lower registers — a writhing long-dragon occupies the top centre amid dense repeating BANQUE DE L'INDO-CHINE underprint lettering, while a confronted dragon motif anchors the lower centre. The penal code warning text appears in two parallel columns in the middle field, flanked left and right by the geometric border panels, with the denomination numeral 5 repeated in each corner. |
