Reverse description Printed entirely in red, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate guilloche border with interlocking Chinese key-pattern ornamentation framing the entire note. Two large dragon vignettes fill the upper and lower registers — a writhing long-dragon occupies the top centre amid dense repeating BANQUE DE L'INDO-CHINE underprint lettering, while a confronted dragon motif anchors the lower centre. The penal code warning text appears in two parallel columns in the middle field, flanked left and right by the geometric border panels, with the denomination numeral 5 repeated in each corner.
