Beschrijving voorzijde Printed in violet on white paper, the obverse is composed around a central oval guilloche frame enclosing the issuer name BANQUE DE LA MARTINIQUE and the promissory text, flanked by two intaglio portrait medallions — a left-facing female head at left and a right-facing jewelled female head at right — set against a finely engraved foliate and tropical plant underprint. Large numeral 5 denominators appear in each corner, with series and serial numbers printed in black, and a rectangular cartouche at the lower centre bearing the forgery warning under Article 139 of the Penal Code. Two manuscript signatures appear below the printed titles Le Directeur and Le Caissier.

Beschrijving keerzijde Printed in blue-green, the reverse centres on an oval guilloche medallion bearing an intaglio portrait of a classical female head in profile, surmounted by a caduceus flanked by exotic parrots perched on flowering branches. Two circular vignettes at left and right contain star motifs, and a decorative cartouche at the lower centre carries the statutory legislation inscription, all within an elaborate engraved border of tropical foliage and scrollwork. Denomination numeral 5 appears at each corner.
