| Obverse description | Central field features a finely detailed bust of a roaring lion facing left, set within a raised circular border. An inner annular band carries the legend REPUBLIQUE DEMOCRATIQUE DU CONGO encircling the central device. The broad outer rim bears the inscription BANQUE CENTRALE at the top and 5 FRANCS at the base, flanked on each side by a five-pointed star; the date is split 19 and 99 to the left and right respectively within the rim. The design is rendered in a proof-like finish with strong contrasts between the polished field and frosted devices. |
