Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Napoleon I facing right, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style, with naturalistically engraved curling hair. The legend NAPOLEON EMPEREUR. runs along the periphery, divided by the effigy. The engraver's mark — a small monogram — appears at the coin's lower center beneath the truncation. The field is smooth and unadorned, allowing the portrait to dominate the composition.

Reverse description The denomination 5 / FRANCS. is displayed in two lines at the center of the field, enclosed within a large open laurel and olive wreath tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE. runs along the upper periphery, while the date in Revolutionary calendar notation — AN 13. — appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by dots. The mint mark is positioned to the right of the wreath at the inner rim. The overall design is characteristic of the early Napoleonic coinage, combining Republican iconography with Imperial titulature.
