Reverse description The reverse presents a purely typographic design in which the denomination and issuing authority are set within an elaborate wreath of intertwining floral and foliate scrollwork. At the center, the legend reads TUNISIE above the large numeral 5, followed by FRANCS and the Gregorian date 1946 in three successive lines. The curved inscription PROTECTORAT FRANÇAIS encircles the lower portion of the central legend, arcing from left to right within the wreath. The decorative border is formed by sinuous stems bearing stylized wheat ears and budding flowers, rendered with great precision in the manner typical of Bazor's work for the Monnaie de Paris. A fine reeded rim borders the entire design.
