| Obverse description | The obverse features an aniconic design centered on a multi-line Arabic legend filling the field, reading the name and titles of Muhammad al-Amin, Bey of Tunisia, along with the denomination of 5 francs and the Hijri date 1365. The central inscription is flanked on either side by finely rendered olive branches rising from the lower field, their sprigs curving symmetrically inward. A decorative geometric border frames the design, composed of interlaced square and rectangular motifs forming a continuous inner ring. The word ESSAI appears in small Latin letters at the left of the field, identifying this piece as a trial strike. The overall composition is executed in a refined Art Deco style characteristic of the Monnaie de Paris. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a purely typographic design in which the denomination and issuing authority are set within an elaborate wreath of intertwining floral and foliate scrollwork. At the center, the legend reads TUNISIE above the large numeral 5, followed by FRANCS and the Gregorian date 1946 in three successive lines. The curved inscription PROTECTORAT FRANÇAIS encircles the lower portion of the central legend, arcing from left to right within the wreath. The decorative border is formed by sinuous stems bearing stylized wheat ears and budding flowers, rendered with great precision in the manner typical of Bazor's work for the Monnaie de Paris. A fine reeded rim borders the entire design. |
