| Reverse description | Central field displays an eight-pointed star surrounded by an intricate circular arabesque band of foliate and geometric interlace ornament. The legend MAROC arcs along the upper portion of the rim in Latin characters, with the denomination 5 FRANCS and the word ESSAI (indicating trial or pattern status) also inscribed in Latin. An Arabic inscription along the lower rim reads Al-Sikka Al-Mohammadia Al-Sharifiya. The privy marks of the Monnaie de Paris — the cornucopia and the wing — appear in the field, identifying the Paris Mint as the place of production. |
