Obverse description Bare head of King Louis-Philippe I facing right, rendered in high relief with naturalistic portraiture. The engraver's signature N·P TIOLIER appears along the neck truncation. The encircling legend reads LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANÇAIS, distributed around the periphery of the coin in Latin characters. The portrait exemplifies the restrained neoclassical style characteristic of early July Monarchy coinage.
