Obverse description Laureate and oak-wreathed bare-shouldered bust of King Louis-Philippe I facing right, rendered in high relief by engraver Joseph-François Domard, whose signature DOMARD.F. appears in the lower exergue. The king's hair is depicted in flowing curls beneath the oak-leaf wreath, a symbol of civic virtue. The encircling legend reads LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANÇAIS, disposed around the effigy within a toothed border.
