Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Louis-Philippe I facing right, his hair rendered in elaborate curling locks with a laurel wreath. The surrounding legend reads LOUIS PHILIPPE I ROI DES FRANÇAIS, disposed along the upper and right periphery of the coin within a fine toothed border. The engraver's signature DOMARD F. appears in small lettering at the base of the bust near the lower exergual area. The portrait is boldly modelled in high relief, characteristic of the official coinage effigy used throughout the July Monarchy period.

Reverse description The reverse is entirely blank, comprising an unadorned, flat gold field encircled by a continuous toothed or beaded border running along the full circumference of the coin. This uninscribed reverse is consistent with the nature of this piece as a pattern or essai, struck to demonstrate the proposed obverse effigy without a finalised reverse design. No legend, denomination, date, or decorative elements are present.
