Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Louis-Philippe I facing right, with curly hair and a small beard, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style. The engraver's signature N.P. TIOLIER appears on the truncation of the bust. The circumferential legend reads LOUIS PHILIPPE ROI DES FRANÇAIS., distributed across the upper and right fields, flanked by a toothed border. The portrait conveys a vigorous, naturalistic likeness characteristic of Tiolier's work at the Monnaie de Paris.
