Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Louis-Philippe I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling hair bound by a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the nape. The circular legend reads LOUIS PHILIPPE I to the left and ROI DES FRANÇAIS to the right, all within a toothed (grenetis) border. The engraver's signature DOMARD.F. appears in the lower exergue beneath the truncation of the bust.

Reverse description Central field displays the denomination 5 / FRANCS in two lines, with the date below, all enclosed within a large laurel and oak wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The mint mark letter appears at the lower left and right flanking the wreath knot, with a small star at the very bottom. The entire design is contained within a toothed (grenetis) border, with no additional legend on the reverse.
