正面描述 Bare-headed left-facing effigy of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with finely modelled facial features. The circumferential legend reads 'JEAN GRAND-DUC DE LUXEMBOURG' along the lower periphery, with the engraver's signature 'J.N. LEFEVRE' incused beneath the truncation. The portrait is contained within a plain raised rim.

背面描述 The central device features the bold denomination '5F' surmounted by a grand ducal crown, all within an open laurel wreath whose branches meet at the base of the field. The date is divided to either side of the crown, with '19' at the left and the final two digits at the right. The issuer's acronym 'IML' (Institut Monétaire Luxembourgeois) appears below the denomination at the base of the wreath. The design is enclosed by a plain raised rim.

附加信息

Luxembourg's Monetary Institute replaced the earlier steel-core 5 franc pieces with this alloy beginning in 1986, a shift driven partly by vending machine compatibility standards being harmonized across Western Europe during the mid-1980s. The three-year window of production was narrow, and total mintages across the series were modest — Grand Duchy coinage of this period rarely saw the volumes typical of larger neighboring states.

The copper-aluminium-nickel composition was chosen for its resistance to corrosion and its consistent electrical conductivity signature, both critical for automated coin acceptance systems gaining ground across Luxembourg's retail sector at the time.
