| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Ceres, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, wearing an elaborate wreath of wheat ears, olive branches, oak leaves, and flowers, with a diadem inscribed CONCORDE and a pearl necklace at the truncation. A six-pointed star appears in the upper field. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE * FRANÇAISE is inscribed around the rim, divided on either side of the effigy, and the engraver's signature E.A. OUDINE. F. appears in the lower exergue. The design is executed in high relief with finely detailed hair and headdress, characteristic of Oudiné's neoclassical style. |
