| 裏面の説明 | The central field features a detailed bird's-eye perspective view of St. Peter's Basilica and its iconic elliptical colonnade in Vatican City, rendered in fine relief. To the upper right, two overlapping coin effigies are depicted: a Vatican 1 Euro coin obverse showing the papal effigy and the legend 'CITTA DEL VATICANO', and a reverse showing the euro denomination. The curved legend 'L'INTRODUCTION DE L'EURO DU VATICAN' arcs along the upper periphery. The denomination '5 FRANCS' is inscribed in the lower exergue in bold Latin capitals. |

The Democratic Republic of the Congo issued a series of euro-denomination fantasy pieces around 2002, targeting the European collector market ahead of and immediately following the eurozone cash changeover in January of that year. These have no legal tender relevance to the DRC's domestic economy — the country uses the Congolese franc — and Vatican City issues its own euro coinage through agreement with the European Union, making this piece doubly anomalous. The KM# Pn16 designation places it formally among pattern or fantasy issues rather than regular circulation coinage.
