Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a cockade of oak and olive leaves. The engraver's signature MORLON appears in small letters behind the neck truncation. The legend REPVBLIQVE FRANÇAISE arcs along the upper periphery in relief Latin lettering. The design is rendered in a refined, classical style characteristic of Morlon's medallic work of the interwar period.
