Obverse description Three fleurs-de-lis arranged in triangular formation occupy the raised central boss of the field, evoking the ancient arms of France and symbolising the Bourbon Restoration. The surrounding flat annular field carries the Latin legend GALLIA REDDITA EUROPAE in raised capital letters along the upper arc, separated from the inner boss by a continuous beaded border. The date APRILE 1814 is inscribed in the lower arc, likewise flanked by the beaded border and the plain outer rim. The overall composition is austere and heraldic, reflecting the medallic ambitions of this tribute essai struck at the Monnaie de Paris.
