正面描述 Draped bust of Marianne, winged and laureate, facing left, her flowing hair rendered in fine relief. Two sailing vessels appear in the lower field to either side of the effigy, evoking maritime commerce. The engraver's signature L.BAZOR appears at lower left, with the initials GB at lower right. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE curves along the outer border, and the date 1964 is inscribed in the exergue, flanked by two small bird devices. The word ESSAI is incuse on the truncation, identifying this as a pattern strike.

附加信息

Essai strikes for the Comoros in this period were produced at the Paris Mint as part of France's standard practice of issuing trial pieces for its overseas territories before committing to circulation coinage. The archipelago was still a French territory in 1964 — full independence wouldn't come until 1975 — and monetary decisions were made in Paris, not Moroni.

Essais of this type typically exist in very small quantities, distributed mainly to official recipients and the numismatic trade rather than any circulation channel.
