Aanvullende informatie

Charles X ascended the throne in September 1824 following the death of his brother Louis XVIII, and this first type was struck almost immediately to assert dynastic continuity. His reign marked a sharp rightward turn from constitutional monarchy toward royal absolutism — a trajectory that ended with the July Revolution of 1830 and his exile to England. The 1st type was superseded by a revised portrait type in 1826, making the production window unusually narrow.
