| Obverse description | A bold left-facing lion's head effigy occupies the central inner circle, rendered in high relief with finely detailed mane and open mouth. Encircling the inner device, the legend REPUBLIQUE DEMOCRATIQUE DU CONGO arcs around the intermediate ring. The outer border carries the issuing authority BANQUE CENTRALE in the upper arc and the denomination 5 FRANCS in the lower arc, with the divided date 19-99 flanking the design at the sides, all separated by five-pointed stars. |
