Belgian military payment certificates of this type were introduced for use within Belgian armed forces stationed in Germany after liberation, replacing the improvised scrip arrangements that had been rushed into service in 1944–45. The series was intended to limit the flow of hard currency into occupied German territory and reduce black-market pressure — a problem that plagued every Allied force in the occupation zones.
Pick lists only three notes in this military series. Survival rates are uneven; the lower denominations passed through more hands and were discarded more carelessly than the higher values.
