Reverse description The reverse depicts three Swiss voulges (Hellebarden) arranged vertically side by side, each bearing a Swiss cross on the blade, commemorating the weapons carried by the Confederation forces at the Battle of Sempach. Behind the voulges, the tips of pikes are visible, angled to the right, evoking the massed infantry formations of the medieval engagement. The date of the battle, 1386, appears in the upper field to the left, while the legend SEMPACH is inscribed in the lower field, identifying the commemorated event.
