Reverse description A finely detailed frontal portrait of a gazelle head dominates the centre of the field, its long curved horns rising toward the upper portion of the coin and flanked by stylised palm fronds. The denomination 5 F·RS is positioned on either side of the gazelle's neck in the central field. Two tropical fish are depicted in low relief at the lower left and lower right, reflecting the territory's coastal fauna. The legend COTE FRANÇAISE DES SOMALIS curves around the upper periphery. A dotted border frames the inner design near the rim.
