Obverse description Left-facing bust of Marianne, the allegorical figure of the French Republic, wearing a winged helmet with a fan-shaped crest and flowing hair. In the lower field, the masts and rigging of sailing ships are depicted on either side of the truncation, evoking maritime trade. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs around the upper periphery, while the engraver's signature L. BAZOR appears at lower left and the initials CB at lower right. The date is inscribed in the exergue below the bust.
