Obverse description Plain typeset note printed in blue on green paper (P#4a) or black on dark-green paper (P#4b), enclosed within a fine guilloche border. The text is arranged in a strictly typographical layout with the colonial authority and denomination in graduated letterpress type, a handwritten serial number below center, and two manuscript signature lines at the foot flanked by the printed titles of the signatories.
Obverse lettering GUADELOUPE ET DÉPENDANCES TRÉSOR COLONIAL (Décret du 18 Août 1884.) CINQ FRANCS. La Délégué du Gouverneur. Le Trésorier Payeur. LA CONTRE VALEUR EN ESPÈCES EST DÉPOSÉE AU TRÉSOR.
