The Hungarian forint was introduced on 1 August 1946 to replace the pengő, which had collapsed in the most severe hyperinflation ever recorded — peak daily inflation reached 207% in July of that year, with prices doubling roughly every fifteen hours. This commemorative marks exactly 75 years from that stabilization.
