Issued to mark Willem-Alexander's investiture on 30 April 2013 — the day Beatrix abdicated after 33 years on the throne — this piece reflects Aruba's status as a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, entitled to produce its own commemorative coinage under that arrangement. The investiture itself was the first Dutch accession since Beatrix took the throne in 1980, and only the third of the twentieth century.
