Aruba separated from the Netherlands Antilles on January 1, 1986, gaining its own "Status Aparte" within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and establishing the Centrale Bank van Aruba the same year. The florin replaced the Netherlands Antillean guilder at par on that date. Modern commemorative florins from this institution are struck in low mintages, typically under 2,000 pieces, and rarely see secondary market depth outside the Caribbean collector circuit.
