| 背面描述 | Central device depicts a traditional Kuwaiti dhow sailing vessel in fine relief, shown underway on stylized waves with its characteristic multiple masts, rigging, and a small flag at the stern clearly rendered. The radiating sunburst pattern fills the background field. Below the vessel, the dual date legend in Arabic-Indic numerals appears, presenting the Hijri and Gregorian years separated by a dash. The entire design is enclosed within a border of fine denticles. |

Kuwait's fils coinage was introduced in 1961 following the creation of the Kuwaiti dinar as the country severed its currency ties with the Indian rupee, which had circulated in the Gulf for decades under British oversight. The Central Bank of Kuwait was formally established the following year, making the 1962 date on this series the true inaugural issue of an independent monetary institution. The long production run through 2011 reflects how little the small-denomination design was ever revised — the same specifications persisted across oil booms, the 1990 Iraqi occupation, and subsequent reconstruction.
