| Obverse description | Displayed Imperial German eagle with spread wings, the head turned to the left, surmounted by a crown above. The breast of the eagle bears a shield charged with the Hohenzollern arms. The design is rendered in high relief with elaborate feather detail on the wings and decorative foliate scrollwork at the base of the composition. No legend appears on this face, the entire field being occupied by the heraldic eagle motif derived from the standard German Imperial coinage dies. |
