A six-character legend arcing across the upper field reads 二十枚當圓一 indicating the coin's exchange rate of 20 pieces to one Yuan, with the characters 圓一 (one Yuan) appearing at the left. The design is enclosed by a beaded inner border and a toothed outer rim consistent with the obverse.
