| Obverse description | Central field displays four Chinese ideograms arranged vertically and read top to bottom, right to left, flanking a pair of Manchu script characters at centre. The entire composition is encircled by a surrounding band of additional Chinese ideograms forming the full mint and reign legend. The inscription identifies the issuing mint as Pei Yang, the reigning emperor Guangxu, and the denomination expressed as a weight in candareens. |

| Reverse description | A coiled five-clawed imperial dragon is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, its head facing forward and clutching a flaming pearl beneath its body. The dragon's scales, whiskers, and claws are rendered in fine detail in the Chinese imperial tradition. A beaded inner border frames the design, with a raised Latin legend arranged along the upper and lower periphery reading '25TH YEAR OF KUANG HSU' above and 'PEI YANG' below, separated by raised dot stops. |
